The Bake Boss Party will introduce an incentive to buy greener, more sustainable housing by offering a rebate that is equivalent to 15% of Land Transfer (Stamp) Duty for the purchase of residential housing that fits certain parameters that consider the house to be “green”. This will include houses that have lower energy consumption due to more energy efficient appliances, alternate energy sources, better insulation, and houses with a smaller area to reduce urban sprawl.
This will be capped at a maximum rebatable amount of $18,000 (equating to a 2 million dollar property). The amount will be calculated as part of the tax return of the new house owner at the end of the financial year.
